Guinea Pig And Interview

So after work on Saturday, I got to be a guinea pig for the boss and our esthetician. Don't laugh at me but I had my eye brows wax and my brows and eyelashes tinted. Not only that, the boss and I had our backs waxed.

You see our esthetician just passed her state boards and needed practice in clients. The back wasn't too pain. When she waxed my neck it hurt like a S.O.B. I don't think I'll have that done again. My neck was sore for two days.

So yesterday I had an interview with one of the U.C.S.C. collage students. They teach a coarse on the HIV/AIDS meds and she wanted to talk to someone who takes the antivirals and the side effects. She was pleasant and enjoyable to talk with about the medications.

The only thing different I wished she would have done was have some questions prepared for the interview instead of winging the interview . I wasn't sure exactly what she wanted for her paper. I just hope that I gave her the correct information so she does well in the coarse.

Step two: Go into safe edit mode which is in the upper right hand corner

Step three: Click on Images if you see a different pic then yours then that pic has been hacked, and so has your profile.

If you just see an X that pic wasn't hacked

Step four: Hit home button

Step five: Hit add/edit photos

step six: Hit delete on the pic that has been hacked.

step seven: reupload the pics you have deleted.

Optomotrist And CMV Retinitis

So I went yesterday to the optomotrist to have my eyes checked. Well I found out I needed a new prescription. I also found out I lost some of my depth perception and that people with HIV/AIDS can get CMV (Cytomegalovirus) retinitis.

CMV retinitis is a disease that can cause blurred vision, floaters, decreased peripheral vision, light flashes and sudden loss of vision. If left untreated CMV retinitis can cause retinal detachment. HIV/AIDS patients can also have changes to the optic nerve and changes to the retina without having signs of CMV retinitis.

CMV retinitis is caused by the cytomegalovirus, a very common virus: about 80% of adults harbor antibodies to CMV, which indicates their bodies have successfully fought it off. The difference for people who have AIDS is that their weakened or non-functioning immune system cannot stave off this virus. Other people with a weakened or suppressed immune system, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or a bone marrow transplant, are also at risk.

In the past, 25% percent of people who have the later stages of the virus developed CMV retinitis. With the new meds they have now, this percentage is going down. I hope that this percentage keeps going down.

I should have my new glasses by this coming Monday. The optomotrist also wanted to talk to me about getting a pair reading glasses. I don't think I'm ready for them...yet. He also recommended I get my eyes checked every year. I don't know if the virus caused the changes in my vision or if my ass is just getting old. It could be from both things but I am not in the later stages of the AIDS virus. This is just one more thing I needed to learn living with HIV/AIDS.

Grand Re Opening And Termites

Well the salon is FINALLY finished with the remodel. The boss and I completed the work about 2:30 am Sunday morning. I think I worked something like 85 hours this week completing the salon. I didn't get home till 3 am and woke up by 6:30. I had to call the boss to wake him up.

You see we had our grand re opening party at 11:00 am. We had to get ready for the party and had to get the models hair ready to wear hair pieces. I will be posting pics later this week of the party do to I'm staying at Jules house for a few days.

The party went very well and we had anywhere from 50 to 75 people show up in a 6 hour time frame. After it was over, I was talking to my boss in his room. The conversation went something like this........

Boss: Well we really did it!! We got it done.

Me: Yes we did.

Boss: Oh by the way, I have something big for you wait here.

Me: OH GOD I Hope IT'S NOT TOO HEAVY I'M EXHAUSTED!!!

The Boss leaves and comes back with rest of the staff.

Candy: (our other stylist) I guess I get to tell you the big news. For all your hard work I'm giving you a massage on your OWN Massage table.

Yes the owner and The Boss our buying me a massage table for all my hard work. I was to stunned and tired to say anything. I just burst into tears.

So after the party I went to Jules house where I'm staying for a few days. They are termite tenting my place for the next three days. It couldn't have happened at a worse time for me but I'll survive. I'll be able to to spend time with Jules since her and her family are moving in the middle of March.

I'll miss Jules when she leaves. So I'll be blogging and doing computer work at her place till Thursday. Once I get back to my place I'll try to up load the pics from the party and show them to you. I love the way the salon turned out.

Crash and Burn

Tomorrow is the grand reopening of the salon. I'm soo ready to crash and burn from exhaustion it isn't funny. I plan to take pictures and do a video once it's complete.

Make Over

I've been wanting to have a new template for my blog for quite some time now. Last night I did it. It's not the one I wanted but it works for now till I figure out what I really want. I hope you enjoy.

I guess I'm making over a lot of things in my life. I know something big and good is coming into my life. I have been having that gut feeling for quite a while. I hope you like the new template!! Can you tell I'm still tired as hell by my writing?

Most of my readers know I've wanted an Ipod for quite sometime now. Well Saturday thanks to Jules I was able to order it online. I'm as giddy as a girl scout selling her cookies. Not only did I order an Ipod, I'm getting the Product Red Ipod which means some of the money is going to people in Africa to help pay for their meds.

In January, I made a wish list of 5 things I wanted in life this year. I now will have 2 out of 5 when the Ipod arrives. It's been a very good but tiring year so far. I just hope this rest of the year is as amazing as these past few weeks in a good way.

My cyber friend Annie gave birth to her daughter this morning. She was born at 8:04 AM. She weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. Welcome to the world baby girl.

A Kewl AIDS Fund Raiser

So I was down at "The Org" yesterday just to say hi to the peeps. At the Christmas party the person in charge of fund raising had a great idea for a fund raiser. "SKYDIVING!!" I'm so excited about this idea. For those who are regular readers, you know it's one of the things I want to do in my life.

Yes I want to jump out of a plane doing a tandem jump. There are two places where we can jump in this area. One is in Monterey, the other is a town called Hollister. The gentleman in charge really digs the Monterey jump school. We would be able to see the whole Monterey bay when we jump from their facility.

I think the fund raising part is people will donate so much money to "The ORG" if we make the jump. He would also like to get autographed celebrity pics wishing us well if we go ahead with this fund raiser. So I maybe able to fulfil one of my life long dreams this year. Life is good right now.
